 Why are the letters in the typewriter or keyboard not in alphabetical order?

Answer When typewriters were first invented the fast typers would jam the mechanisms, as commonly used letters were near eachother.The standard QWERTY layout was designed to stop that happening.

Why are letters on computer keyboard not written in alphabetical order?

Because when typewriters were first made - people would type too fast and lock up the keys (manual typewriters). The layout was designed to slow down the typist.
